PURPOSE:To enable high-speed driving, to obviate unequal display and to improve the reliability of electrical connection to the outside by laminating a transparent electrode and metallic film on at least a part of a non-display part. CONSTITUTION:A light shielding layer 3 and color filters 2 are formed on a glass substrate 1 and a flattening film 4 is formed thereon only within a seal 9. After an ITO film is further formed as the transparent electrode 5 thereon, the transparent electrode 5 and the metallic film 6 are laminated on at least the non-display part (the part exclusive of the display part 11 on the substrate 1) and further, an oriented film 7 is formed. The pattern of the metallic film 6 may cover the entire surface of the sealing part 9 and may cover just a part of the sealing part 9, insofar as an electrical juncture 8 can be provided from the laminated part of the transparent electrode 5 and the metallic film 6. Since the metallic film 6 is laminated on the transparent electrode 5, the resistance of the transparent electrode 5 is lowered and eventually the unequal display is prevented and the high-speed driving is enabled. In addition, the reliability of the electrical juncture 8 is improved. |
