PURPOSE:To save resources and provide an air-metal hydride secondary battery of large discharge capacity by positioning an anion conversion film between a negative electrode having hydrogen storage alloy powder and a positive electrode capable of adsorbing oxygen for enabling the performance of charging and discharging. CONSTITUTION:An electrode group 4 comprises a positive electrode 1 mainly composed of carbon and capable of adsorbing oxygen, a negative electrode 2 containing a hydrogen storage alloy composed of LaNi4.5Al0.5 and a cylindrical anion conversion film 3. This group 4 has the capability of performing charging and discharging function. Also, an externally mounted can 5 is used as a positive electrode terminal in common, and a part thereof is provided with air introduction holes 5a and so forth. The internal side of the conversion film 3 is electroless plated with a hydride catalyst 7 composed of platinum. On the other hand, the negative electrode 2 has a conductive metal mesh 2c filled with a mixture of hydrogen storage alloy powder 2a and a liquid retaining material 2b made of nylon fiber and impregnated with an alkaline electrolyte. The upper opening of the can 6 is fitted with a sealing body 9 for a negative electrode terminal via a packing 8, and hydrogen is introduced through an inlet 10 at the time of charging. |
