PURPOSE:To solve such problem that an embossed character on a black card cannot be read by a conventional image reading method considering 'white emboss reading'. CONSTITUTION:Two kinds of image data are generated(frame memory 107) by switching the light emission strength of a LED light source 101 which irradiates a card to the light emission strength for 'white emboss reading' setting a white card as reference or the light emission strength for 'black emboss reading' setting a black card as reference at every line period of an image sensor 103, and it is decided whether the card is the white card or the black card by extracting(feature extraction part 110) the feature of the base color of the card from those two kinds of image data, and the image data adaptive for the base color can be selected. |
