A scale functioning also as a lifesaving rope comprises a high tension cable (5) having divisions (6) in the longitudinal direction, a drum (2) for taking up and storing the high tension cable (5), a case (1) for rotatably storing the drum (2) and a magnifying glass (7) for reading out the divisions (6), wherein the high tension cable is produced by twisting a plurality of 10-100 mu m filaments having a fine grain texture, and it is coated with a synthetic resin.
