The appliance for using asparagus stalks has a housing (3) contg. three spring-mounted blade holders (1) each staggered by 120 deg. from the next and each contg. two spirally cutting blades (2). The blade holders, in the form of two armed levers, are joined at their free outer ends into a ring by a plate spring (9). That part (4) of ther holder holding the blade is angled at 45 deg. The blades protrudes in a wedge shape from the holder so as to bite more deeply into thicker asparagus, and are at 45 deg. to the asparagus lengthwise axis (2). A flat ring (11) manipulated externally by a hand lever is beneath the housing lid, and opens the blades using carrier pins (13). USE/ADVANTAGE - The unpeeled stalks of asparagus are cut up into short pieces a few mm long so as to be totally edible.
