摘要 In the prodn. of a (porous) Fe anode (for alkaline accumulators) from Fe and/or Fe oxide powder contg. a pore former (I) by sintering, sugar (cpds) are used as (I), pref. in an amt. of 2-20 wt%. The process is simpler and quicker than usual and gives anodes which are very stable mechanically and have a high Ah capacity and max. degree of charging efficiency. Sintering is carried out in an open air atmos, at 400-800(ca 700) degrees C for 2-15(3-8) min. The mixt. is pref. made into a brushable paste with water and applied evenly to a supporting mesh before sintering. An example a paste of 17g Fe powder, 1.3 g sugar (glucose) and 2 cm3 water was applied to expanded Ni and sintered 6 min in air at 730 degrees C. An accumulator with this anode has a capacity of 220 Ah/kg in the dry state.
