PURPOSE:To make it possible to remarkably reduce the firmware load of an adapter and to very efficiently carry out the specification designs and specification changes of an operator panel and of the adapter by a method wherein the management of control state in response to the operation on the panel is performed on the main controller side and not on the adapter side. CONSTITUTION:The controlling device concerned is equipped with an operator panel 14, on which a display 10 and a plurality of keys are provided, a controller 16, which performs control processing in accordance with the operation of the keys on the operator panel 14, and an adapter 20, which is interposed between the controller 16 and a host device 18. Further, on the controller 16, a state transition map holding means 22, which holds the transition map of the control state of the device concerned, a map tracing means 24, which traces the transition map in accordance with the operation of the keys on the operator panel 14, an operational state transition means 26, which transfers the operational state of the device to the traced destination of the transition map, and a traced destination announcing means 28, which announces the traced destination of the transition map to the adapter 20, are provided. |
