PURPOSE: To precisely assemble a large array in such a way that a print head subunit (subunit) is brought to contact with an alignment fixture, and next, a rear end nozzle of a rear end mounting subunit is repeatedly measured from an alignment point. CONSTITUTION: After a head subunit 40 is brought to contact with surfaces 32 and 34 of an alignment fixture, a distance A from a contact point between a surface 32 and an end surface 28 of the head subunit 40 to the center of a triangular nozzle 30 of the head subunit 40 is searched and measured by a video camera and a computer. When a distance is not in a proper range, e.g. in a next mounting, a proper thing is chose and compensation is conducted. Next, a subunit is installed, and a distance B between adjoining nozzles and a tolerance of an integrated distance are detected. A distance is measured again by exchanging a subunit 44 so that the distance B from a rear end nozzle 36 of a subunit 42 adjoining to the rear end to a head nozzle 38 of the rear end subunit 44 becomes the same as a distance in which a tolerance was added or subtracted with an interval between adjoining nozzles on a single subunit. |
