A treatment liquid is applied to the surface of a moving endless strip of material (10) by means of a sloping run-off surface (1). The liquid (17) is sprayed on to a first perforated plate (39) and flows into a space below this plate. A second perforated plate (20) is mounted close to the first perforated plate and is bent to a U-section. The liquid flows through the perforations in the upper flange into the U-section. The liquid then flows out of the U-section through the perforations in the lower flange and forms a number of streams of equal size so that the liquid is equally distributed over the run-off surface (1) and falls evenly over the endless strip 91). USE/ADVANTAGE - Application of a liquid to a strip of material. The weir formed by the channel section ensures an even distribution of the liquid.
