A mirror comprising a surface of glass or synthetic material (1), the rear face of which is coated with a reflective film (2) protected by copper electroplating and by the application of a film of varnish. Said mirror has a far longer life than a conventional mirror because it is combined with a second surface (5) of glass or synthetic material parallel with the first surface (1). The two faces are separated from one another by an intermediate part (6) so as to create a gap (7) forming an air and humidity seal between the two surfaces (1, 5). Said seal is formed by the addition of a hygroscopic substance (9). <IMAGE>
