The invention relates to a motorised retractable post (1) contained in a container (3) embedded in the ground, the extension of which above the ground is controlled by a motor winch (11) on whose drum (12) the two ends of the strap (13) are diametrically fixed, which strap is deployed in the vertical plane, supported by rollers (14, 15, 16 and 17) and itself supporting, by means of the rollers (18) and (19), the mobile chassis (7) which is integral with the post (1) and which can be moved vertically, guided by the sets of rollers (5) and (6) which bear on each of the vertical uprights (4) arranged on either side of the diametrical vertical plane. The post (1) is thus moved vertically by means of the tension in the loop of the strap (13) wound on the drum (12) of the winch (11), it being lowered by reverse movement of the winch (11).
