PURPOSE:To provide a device which clips a picture constituted of the combination of several colors or patterns without setting any troublesome clipping condition. CONSTITUTION:In picture data inputted from a picture inputting means (a), the change of the strength of the spatial frequency of each local area is detected by a spatial frequency converting means (b), the similarity of the change of the strength of the spatial frequency is detected, and a clustering is operated by a clustering means (d). An area division picture preparing means (e) gathers the local areas having the similar spatial frequency feature into one based on a clustering result. At the time of designating the area to be extracted from among the gathered areas, an area setting means (g) obtains area picture data to be extracted by a local area unit. An outline part setting means (h) exactly segments the outline part of the extracted area picture data by using color quantization picture data performed for a grouping by each similar color by a color quantizing means (c), so that the data necessary for a mask preparation can be obtained. |
