The rod connects a crankshaft and a rocker arm,whose axis is located at right angles to the crankshaft axis. The connecting rod big end bearing is of a rotary type with one degree of freedom only, pref. a cylindrical slide bearing with end side stop faces. The rod shaft (1) connecting the big and small end bearings is flexible. The part of the rod axis outside the rod shaft carries an extension (2,3) as a counterweight at one or other, pref. both bearings. The ratio of axial play to external dia. of the stop face of the bearing, is smaller than the ratio of radial play to support bearing width. ADVANTAGE - simple and advantageous connection to crankshaft.
