The apparatus converts low resolution printing data to high resolution printing data at high speed. The apparatus includes a memory (16) for storing scan data, a mode register (34) for storing mode data transmitted from a CPU (12), a counter (36) for counting line data address signal to generate sub-scan completion control signal, a clock controller (38) for dividing frequency of data clock signal transmitted via data reception clock line by dividing factor N transmitted from the mode register (34), an address signal generator (40) for generating line scan data according to sub-scan completion control signal transmitted from the counter (36) and a main scan data converter for generating scan data whose resolution is increased.
