The device has at least two clamping elements (27) with heads (45) with which a tool-spindle carrier (12) can be secured in place on a vertical bearing surface of a drive unit (14). The head (45) of the clamping element (27) has as a centring part at least one clamping and centring surface (48, 49) lying on a tapered circumference. The clamping and centring surface (48, 49) interacts with at least one tapered circumferential surface (44) of the tool-spindle carrier (12). The tool-spindle carrier (12) can thereby be centred and clamped in a single step. No additional components are required for centring the tool-spindle carrier (12) on the drive unit (14). The device permits high reproducibility in a simple clamping and centring action.
