PURPOSE: To provide a process of making a hydraulically needled superabsorbent composite material and a product obtained by the process. CONSTITUTION: This is a process for making a hydraulically needled supersbsorbent composite material including a process of producing a nonwoven fibrous web, a process for hydraulically needling a nonwoven web at an energy level sufficient for raising the liquid distributing property of a nonwoven web, and a process introducing an anhydrous superabsorbent material to a hydraulically needled nonwoven fibrous web in a contact condition tightly combined with at least one surface of the web to form a hydraulically needled composite material.
