PURPOSE: To produce a cotton-based washable nonwoven cloth capable of obtaining a spunlace cloth capable of maintaing mechanical and fabric characteristics even after washing several times. CONSTITUTION: A process for producing spunlace nonwoven cloth based on cotton fibers includes successive following steps; a step of continuously advancing the cloth (1) based on cotton fibers, a step of interlacing (2, 3) the fibers with water jets under pressure, a step (8) of drying the cloth (4), a step of taking delivery (10) of the spunlaced cloth (9) thus obtained. After interlacing (2, 3) and before drying (8) a step (5) to drain free water contained in the cloth (4) are provided. Then a step (6) is provided to impregnate the drained cloth by using an aqueous solution of a polyamide-amine-epichlorohydrin(PAE) resin in an amount of 0.2-1% of the weight of the cotton fibers. Further a step (8) is provided to dry the impregnated cloth (7) containing an excess solution at a temperature sufficient to at least start the cross-linking of the PEA resin deposited. |
