PURPOSE:To enhance the preservability of a recording image, in a thermal recording medium having a thermal recording layer containing a colorless or monochromatic basic dye and a developer forming a color upon the contact with the dye, by using a basic dye expressed by a specific formula and a specific developer. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material wherein a thermal recording layer containing a colorless or monochromatic basic dye and a developer forming a color upon the contact with the dye is provided on a support, as the basic dye, a compd. expressed by general formula (wherein R1-R5 are a 1-12C alkyl group or a 1-12C alkoxy group and A and B are respectively a carbon atom or a nitrogen atom) is used. As the developer, at least one compd. selected from 4-hydroxy-4'-isopropoxydiphenylsulfone, bis(p-hydroxyphenyl)sulfide and 2,4'-dihydroxydiphenylsulfone is used. For example, 50-2000 pts.wt. of the developer is used per 100 pts.wt. of the basic dye. |
