The invention relates to a method for converting into sounds the vibrations of the strings of a stringed musical instrument. The method is characterised in that, with the aid of sensors (CA) the vibrations on the strings or on an element (CE) caused to vibrate by these strings, are picked up by mechanical contact with the latter, and sound signals are generated from the vibrations thus picked up with the aid of loudspeakers (HP).
