PURPOSE:To record the information in a correct place without dislocating a recording pit from the center of track even when there is a skew on the track of optical recording medium in a shifting direction. CONSTITUTION:An optical card 7 is irradiated with a recording optical beam from a semiconductor laser 1 and a reproducing optical beam from a semiconductor laser 8. At this time, the reproducing optical beam is divided into zeroth- and first-order diffracted lights by a diffraction grating 13 provided on the light route of the reproducing optical beam, and they are applied on the areas of the card 7 where the track having said recording optical beam spots is included at least, and front and rear areas of the recording optical beam spots in a relative shifting direction of the recording optical beam. Then, the reflected light of the reproducing optical beam from the card 7 is used to generate a tracking error signal, and tracking operation is performed on the track of the card 7 by using the recording optical beam. |
