PURPOSE: To store a plurality of drill bits in easy-to-access fashion by providing the inner surface of a cover with tabs releasably placed in frictional engagement with the shell sections of a normal tool bit casing to hold them in their open position. CONSTITUTION: A cover plate 34 is connected to a housing part 22 to open or close a compartment 25. The cover plate M has on its inner surface a first set of tabs 45 and a second set of tabs 45 releasably placed in frictional engagement with a first shell section 49 and a second shell section 50 of a tool bit casing to hold them in their open position such that a set of tool bits is stored in the compartment 25 in easy-to-access fashion.
