摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To achieve a higher abrasion resistance in a hearth region of a direct- current electric-arc furnace by arranging a graphite brick lining, a ramming mass comprising magnesite and the like sequentially inside an insulating refractory brick lining covering the whole of a furnace bottom part. CONSTITUTION: This electric-arc furnace has an annular conductor 1 made of copper composing a part of an anode and located just adjacent to the conductor 1 is an annular zone of a brick lining 3 of graphite bricks electrically conducting. A cathode 2 is positioned above the center of the melt 8. Another zone 4 of an electrically conductive refractory material, preferably a brick lining made up of a carbon magnesite brick is provided adjacent to the annular zone 3 and a ramming mass 5 comprising magnesite is installed at the center part of a hearth that directly contacts the melt 8 inside the zone. An insulating refractory brick lining 7 is preferably arranged on a bottom part made of iron.</p>
