<p>PURPOSE:To obtain excellent deodorizing effect to a living offensive smell, especially, thiol offensive smell by providing a deodorizing solid supporting a basic substance as the deodorant to the thiol offensive substance and providing a radical on the surface of the solid. CONSTITUTION:A deodorizing solid such as a gas adsorbing substance, for example, activated carbon or ceramic or a porous substance, for example, a metal-oxy polybasic acid type porous substance is used. A basic substance such as a basic salt of alkaline earth metal, for example, slaked lime is supported on the deodorizing solid. Thereafter, this deodorizing solid is treated with an aqueous solution containing Fe<2+> and/or Ti<3+> and a radical generating treatment agent such as hydrogen peroxide to form a radical on the surface of the deodorizing solid. The deodorant thus obtained can be reacted with a thiol radical and the redical on the surface of the deodorizing solid to deodorize a thiol offensive smell.</p> |
