PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of a line buffer to be required in the case of applying variable power processing to image data. CONSTITUTION:A linear interpolation processing part 1602 applies variable power processing to image data read out by a scanner 1601 based upon a serial method and a vertical/horizontal conversion processing part 1603 converts the variable power processed data into raster type image data. As to serial type image data compared with the raster type, the length of one dot string is shorter and a buffer for one line to be required for interpolation processing can be reduced. The raster type data are stored in an image storage part 1605. In the case of outputting the image data from the storing part 1605, a vertical/ horizontal conversion processing part 1604 converts the image data from the raster type into a format appropriate for a serial printer 1606. Then a linear interpolation processing part 1602 applies variable power processing to the converted image and a serial printer 1606 prints out the image. |
