<p>PURPOSE:To provide the high-quality color filter which prevents light transmission and light reflection in the sections between picture elements and can improve the contrast of display images. CONSTITUTION:The main parts of the color filter are constituted of slide glass 1 which is a substrate, a transparent inorg. thin film 2 consisting of a TiO film which is uniformly formed and forms an antireflection film, a metallic light shielding film 3 consisting of a Cr thin film selectively provided in the parts between the picture elements, color filter layers 4R, 4G, 4B provided respectively selectively in the picture element parts, a smooth layer 5 provided over the entire surface including the metallic shielding film 3 and the color filter layers 4R, 4G, 4B and an ITO film 6 uniformly provided on the smooth layer 5. The light transmitting the parts between the picture elements is shielded by the metallic light shielding film 3 and the refractive index at the time viewed from the glass 1 substrate side is lowered by the transparent inorg. thin film 2 and, therefore, the disturbing light which does not constitute the display image is decreased and the contrast of the display image is improved.</p> |
