Around the face of the tool carrier ring (1) is a series of radial slots (3) in which can be fitted replaceable tool cassettes (4). The cassettes are secured by screws passing through clearance holes (11, 12) into screw holes selected from a hole array in the slot depending on the coarse radial position required. Fine radial positioning is achieved by rotation of an adjusting screw (10) abutting against an inserted stop pin (32). The tool tip (18) is clamped or brazed onto the end of an essentially cylindrical tool holder (17) which is clamped in a hole (14) of the cassette and locates the tool tip at a given distance from the face of the tool carrier.
