摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To obtain a trialkoxysilane in high selectivity and conversion by reacting metallic silicon with an alkyl alcohol in vapor phase in the presence of a catalyst and a halide. CONSTITUTION:The objective trialkoxysilane can be produced by reacting metallic silicon having an average particle diameter of <=2mm (especially 50-300mum) with a 1-4C alkyl alcohol in vapor phase in the presence of a catalyst (preferably copper catalyst) and a halide at 100-450 deg.C (especially 100-300 deg.C) under a pressure of 710-60mmHg (especially 660-460mmHg). The alkyl alcohol preferably has a purity of >=95wt.% and a water-content of <=2,000ppm (especially <=500ppm) and the feeding rate of the alcohol to the reaction system is preferably 50-500m-mol/hr per 1mol of the metallic silicon. The feeding rate of the halide to the reaction system is preferably 0.01-10m-mol, especially 0.1-1m-mol based on 1mol of the alcohol. The production of by-product can be suppressed by this process to eliminate the problems of waste-treatment and post-treatment.</p>
