PURPOSE:To provide an optical disk wherein in recording, erasing of information already recorded on the adjacent track or writing of wrong information is prevented. CONSTITUTION:The optical disk of this invention is formed by laminating on a substrate 1 a recording layer 3 and a thermal diffusion layer 6 of a non- magnetic metallic film, e.g. a Cu film, Al film or Ag film, and has concentric or spiral tracks or intertrack areas. The thermal diffusion layer 6 is not provided between the tracks or porvided more thinly than the tracks. Since the thermal diffusion layer 6 exists in the tracks, the power margin for recording or reading, particularly the maximum reading power increases. Further, since the thermal diffusion layer 6 is not provided between the tracks or provided more thinly than the tracks, heat conduction to the adjacent tracks is reduced, and the data on the adjacent tracks is never destroyed even if a fairly large power is used for recording or there is off tracking to a practical extent. |
