Simultaneous treatment of organic waste prods., e.g. sewage - by subjecting streams of coarse prod. free waste to hydrolysing rotting, densifying and composting

A process for the simultaneous treatment of various organic waste prods. contg. solids, such as biorefuse from household, industries and agriculture, e.g. sewage, liquid manure, silage comprises a combination of steps in which the individual waste fractions are separated from coarse materials and then divided into streams (I), (II) and (III) contg. 3-10%, well above 10% and less than 3% solids respectively. The streams are treated as follows: (a) (II) is comminuted (16) and hydrolysed (17); (b) (I) is subjected to rotting (3), densified (4,5) by aerobic treatment, further densified (8) and the diluted water resulting from the densification process is used for hydrolysis in step (a) while the excess of sludge from the densification is used for the rotting of stream (I); (c) the heavily charged hydrolysate formed by the hydrolysis in (a) is combined with (III) and the mixt. of (II) and (III) is subjected to intensive methanisation (18), and (d) the partly stabilised solids resulting from the hydrolysis is separated, partly subjected to composting (22), and the collected trickled water is subjected to intensive methanisation. ADVANTAGE - The process uses less energy than prior art (e.g. DE3918259).
