PURPOSE:To make transmission feeling favorable by detecting engagement of a lockup clutch and by stopping release control of the lockup clutch when transmission returning to a speed before an up-shift signal is put out is detected. CONSTITUTION:When a lockup clutch 10b is engaged and an up-shift from the 'm' th speed to the 'n' th speed is judged at a point of 't1' time, an up- shift signal to the 'n' th speed is put out after 'T1' seconds have passed. A downshift from the 'n' th speed to the 'm' th speed during 'T2' seconds from the 't1' point of time is judged, a down-shift signal is immediately put out, and release control of the lockup clutch 10b based on the up-shift judgment is stopped. By this, an engine speed and output shaft torque are not changed. |
