The insulating layer, esp. for laying beneath a cast concrete floor slab, comprises an underlayer (2) of a material known for its thermal and acoustic insulating properties, such as elastomeric polystyrene, and an upper layer comprising a polyolefin film (4) and a non-woven fabric, such as a felt with a weight of 100-1000 g/m<2>. The polyolefin film is of polyethylene and it is adhered to both the felt and the underlayer. The latter can be supplied in a continuous strip with partial slits (6) in it which allows it to be rolled up. Just before the concrete is poured onto the insulating layer the felt is wetted to prevent it from soaking up water from the concrete. <IMAGE> |
