PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform easily a maintenance operation for the titled engine by a method wherein an oil passage is made to be removably fixed to a crankcase, and an oil pan and the oil passage are removed from the crankcase so that a tool may be inserted into the crankcase through an opening being generated as a result of removal of the oil pan and the oil passage. CONSTITUTION:An opening 14 is formed in the bottom surface of a lower case 6 of a crankcase 4. The opening 14 is closed by an oil pan 15. With the above structure, in case where a piston 9 is removed, the cylinder head is removed from the cylinder body and the oil pan 15 is removed. As a result, the lower surface of a crankcase 4 is left opened. Further, by removing the oil pan 15, the support of a communication pipe 25 is released and the supports of both ends of a main pipe 23 are released. In the above condition, it is possible to take out the piston 9 together with a connecting rod 10 by drawing the piston upward by inserting the tool into the crankcase 4 through the opening in the lower surface of the crankcase 4. |
