A Mariotte water supply is coupled to a flexible infiltration unit. The infiltration assembly permanently linked to a pressure measuring device which consists of an additional volume partly filled with water. A closed water column is formed with the water volume in the assembly. A U-shaped pipe manometer is connected to the associated air volume, with the water supply system secured to a fixture which enables it to be vertically adjusted with respect to the assembly. ADVANTAGE - Facilitates direct determination of tension at infiltration area during test. Tension measured is independent of wetting characteristics in ventilation system and respective infiltration rate. Meter enables continual variation and setting as required.
