The machine comprises a removal device which lifts the hoops to bring them, still in the form of a hoop, to a collection zone (11); means transfer the hoops from the collection zone (11) to a straightening device (15). At the exit of the roller-type straightening device, the hoops are stored in a magazine (16) in the form of straight rods. The hoops thus straightened can be reused directly on automatic planting machines, which makes it possible to eliminate a number of handling operations. <IMAGE>
