A device for feeding banknotes or the like into a safe-deposit compartment (18), comprising a displaceable infeed element (11) which when moved in one direction forces a banknote (S) through an opening (14) leading to the safe-deposit compartment. The infeed element includes a plate (16) which is pivotal at both ends in relation to a frame (15) surrounding the opening (14), wherein at least three elongated elements (13, 17) are pivotally mounted on the plate (16) and on the frame (15) such that in one of the end positions of the plate two elongated elements will partially cover the opening (14) and a third elongated element will extend along the plate, and wherein in another of the end positions of the plate, the third elongated element will cover the opening and the remaining two elongated elements will extend along the plate, wherein a banknote (S) inserted between the elongated elements (13, 17) when the plate forms an upwardly open angle with the frame is caused to pass the elongated elements which earlier partially covered the opening as the plate swings from this position to a second position in which it forms a downwardly open angle with the frame, and is inserted into the opening by the third elongated element. |
