The invention relates to a pole butt which comprises a lower plane piece 1 formed from plate material and designed to be sunk in the ground, and, arranged thereon by means of support members, a fastening part 2 which essentially surrounds the lower end of the pole 3. To produce a simple butt, the lower plane piece 1, the support members 7, 8 and the fastening part 2 are formed by two elements which are each made from a single piece of plate material which is provided with weakening points 5 so that, by bending one element at the weakening points 5, a part piece 6 of the lower plane piece 1, at least one support member 7, 8 and a part 9 of the fastening part 2 can be formed. The elements are designed for fastening to opposite sides of the lower end of the pole 3 in such a manner that the lower end of the pole 3 is held tightly between the elements pressing against the pole surface. <IMAGE>
