New therapeutic agents for combatting infections, inflammations and allergic reactions of the skin (esp. neurodermatises) contain as active component an extract of Impatiens capensis in a solvent or solvent mixt. In a new process for the prodn. of an extract of Impatiens capensis, the comminuted plant or part thereof is extracted with a solvent or solvent mixt. Pref. extracts are those obtd. with alcohol/water mixts. Pref. formulations are dermatological prepns.
