The subscriber circuit has a bistable relay (23) functioning as the rest switch operated by lifting and replacing the telephone handpiece and as a manual simulation switch. The relay (23) is set by operation of two working contacts (30,31) upon lifting or replacement of the handpiece or via an auxiliary button. The resetting is effected by a control (34) evaluating the condition of both working contacts (30,31). The setting current circuit for the relay (23) contains a switching transistor (24) controlled by the working contacts (30,31), with a threshold switch (27) in the working current circuit or the control current circuit of the transistor (24).
