The flexible strip, unwound from a coil, is supplied to the tongs in a slot provided in an inner surface of the two tong parts facing the bundle of the objects. The bundle is surrounded by the strip by means of a drive roller (48) driven in a forward direction. The forward running end of the strip after the covering of the bundle is arrested by a holding unit. The drawing together and the clamping of the covering strip encircling the bundle is achieved by the drive roller running in the reverse direction. The forward running end of the covering strip is welded by means of a welding unit. The strip encircling the bundle is cut from the remaining strip by a cutter and the bundle is released from the tongs by swivelling the swivelable tong part. USE/ADVANTAGE - Wires of coil end for electric motors and similar. Longitudinal objects can be wrapped in space saving manner, without cost, quickly and long lasting. Tool used for method is constructively simple, light wt. and requires no power in practically continuous operation.
