<p>A disposable biodegradable insulated container 10 includes a smooth walled frustoconical inner cup 12 received within a frustoconical sleeve 14. A series of angularly spaced apart fluted indentations 38 formed in the outer surface of the sleeve 14 extend longitudinally of the sleeve and terminate in spaced relation to the upper and lower edges 44, 46 of the sleeve 14. The indentations 38 define corresponding angularly spaced apart and inwardly directed ribs 40 on the inner surface of the sleeve 14 which engage the sidewall 16 of the cup 12 and maintain portions of the sleeve intermediate the ribs 40 in spaced relation to the sidewall 16. The upper and lower marginal portions 44, 46 of the sleeve 14 are adhered to the sidewall 16. The thickness of the sleeve 14 is greater than the distance between the inner surface of the sleeve 14 and the outer surface of the sidewall 16 measured from the central axis of the container 10 in a radial direction and between the ribs 40.
