PURPOSE:To improve the preservability of a recording image by providing a recording layer containing a colorless or light-colored basic dye and a composite zinc salt of terephthalaldehyde acid and other aromatic carboxylic acid being a developer on a support. CONSTITUTION:A colorless or light-colored basic dye, a composite zinc salt of terephthalaldehyde acid and other aromatic carboxylic acid and a hindered phenol compound are introduced into a stirring grinder such as a ball mill in a predetermined amount ratio along with water being a dispersing medium to be subjected to dispersing and grinding treatment to prepare a coating solution for a recording layer. This coating solution is applied to a support such as paper, synthetic paper or a plastic film and dried to form a recording layer to obtain a thermal recording material. As a pref. example of the hindered phenol compound compounded with the recording layer, there is 2,2'-methylenebis (4-methyl-6-tert-butylphenol) or 2, 2'-methylenebis (4-ethyl-6-tert-butylphenol). |
