The controlled atmosphere system provides an atmosphere which has a required mixture of gases, heated or cooled via a heat pump, to maintain a required temp. Air is used as the operating medium for the heat pump and as the raw material for providing oxygen, nitrogen and CO2 gases for the gas mixture. The goods to be stored are loaded onto pallets and are enclosed by a sealed foil wrapping, each coupled via feed and return lines to a mixing chamber. A controlled atmosphere specific to the goods being stored is provided in the mixing chamber, under control of a microcomputer. The mixing chamber contents are pumped around the goods package for a given time interval. The atmosphere around the goods packages is supplied with cooled air at approximately the same temp. as the goods. A fuzzy logic is employed by the microprocessor system controls the mixing chamber and the multiplexing of the goods packages. ADVANTAGE - Reduced operating cost with optimum storage conditions.
