A spacing element (23) for spacing inner and outer sheet cladding panels of a building from one another is of plastics material with upper and lower end portions respectively adapted to engage an inner cladding panel and a support means for an outer cladding panel. The element may be hollow, with studs passing through apertures in the support means, and may be such that two elements can be interconnected (Fig. 10) with snap fasteners.
