PURPOSE:To Judge obstacles from a running vehicle, wherein only those objects which are likely to cause collision are judged as obstacle. CONSTITUTION:A camera and an image processing device 4 to be fed with two-dimensional image information from the camera 2 are mounted in a 1st car 1, wherein the output side of the image processing device 4 is connected with a brake unit 5 of the 1st car 1. The camera 2 takes photo of the 2nd car 3 running ahead as a two-dimensional image, which is fed to the device 4. The device 4 calculates from time to time the change in the area of the image of 2nd car 3 and the change in the position of the center of gravity. When the area of the image enlarges gradually and the position of the center of gravity has reached the center of the scope which is caught by the camera 2, the device 4 actuates the brake unit 5 to apply brakes to the 1st car 1. Thus collision is prevented. |
