PURPOSE:To automatically correct mis-arrangement of a picture direction by processing character information included in an input picture and to recognize the direction of each character and outputting a picture by inverting or rotating the picture as necessary. CONSTITUTION:After picture information read by an image scanner is stored tentatively in a page memory, the result is subjected to prescribed picture processing by an image processor and the result is outputted to a printer. The operation is controlled by a system controller. Moreover, a character direction detection section is provided and the detection section processes an original picture in a page memory to detect the direction of character included in the picture. The system controller controls automatically the upper and the lower part of the copy picture is not opposite to the front and rear side of the transfer paper based on the direction of the characters detected by the character direction detection section in the both-face, copying mode. Thus, the occurrence of unarranged copy due to an error in the arrangement direction of the original is surely prevented. |
