In order to satisfy stringent shielding requirements, the metallic shielding housing (1) of the pin-and-socket connector is made of a single piece and of a single shell, and the pin or socket insert (6) is inwardly offset so that contact with the wall (8) of the appliance occurs only over the frontal side (7) of the shielding housing (1) located on the side of the connector, whereas the cable shielding (25) on the front side directly contacts a transverse wall (22) of the shielding housing (1). A pin-and-socket connector with a minimum amount of transition points is thus obtained, so that surface currents can flow without obstacle. The invention is useful in LF-pin-and-socket connectors, in particular for shielding housings of subminiaturized pin-and-socket connectors. |
