The low-voltage lamp (10) employs a composite material made of an inner plastic layer and two outer metallic layers of e.g. Aluminium. The composite profile is formed in the flat and the stem (12) bent upwards from the circular base (11) so that a bulb housing (18), reflector, and shield (14) can be attached to its upper end. Whilst flat, a strip of material is removed from the centre of both outer layers and across their top resulting in two separate conductors per side to which connectors (36,37), and a switch (49) are attached for the transformer supply (15). USE/ADVANTAGE - Simply constructed lighting unit for mains transformer supply. Does not require separate internal leads nor insulation. Safe in use due to low voltage, and is unlikely to suffer short circuit.
