PURPOSE:To obtain excellent information compressibility by regarding as a block- center reference picture element a picture element a net-point interval away in a main scan or subscanning direction from a picture element predicted by a digital band compressor. CONSTITUTION:To predict picture elements 21 of net-point picture parts 22 and 23, lm and ls, obtained by multiplying picture element width Wm in main scan direction 32 and picture-element width Ws in subscanning direction 33 by integers nm and ns respectively, should be close to net-point intervals Lm and Ls in the main scan and subscanning directions and the center point is fixed away from the center of predicted picture element 21 in the main scan and subscanning directions by values an integer (including 0) greater than 1/2lm and 1/2ls. Near this center point, a reference picture element (not shown in the figure) for predicting predicted picture element 21 is fixed to constitute the digital band compressor on the applicable prediction system. |
