<p>PURPOSE:To provide an inexpensive paper sheet size detecting device with improved reliability which is simply constituted, has less malfunctions, and is capable of accurate detection of the paper sheet size. CONSTITUTION:A resistor 39 is formed on the front surface of an arm 35 which interlocks with a widthwise guiding member 32, while a resistor 40 is formed on the back surface of an arm 37 which interlocks with a paper sheet supplying direction guiding member 32. The resistor 39 and the resistor 40 are in contact with each other in a crossed manner, constituting a variable resistor. The contact position of the resistors 39, 40 is different according to the movement of the widthwise guiding members 32, 33 and that of the paper-supplying direction guiding member 34, i.e., according to the paper sheet size. One end part of the resistor 39 makes a terminal (a) and one end part of the resistor 40 makes a terminal (b), and the resistance value between these terminals (a) and (b) is different according to the paper sheet size. Application of the constant voltage between these terminals leads to the change in the current value flowing in the constant resistor, and the change in the voltage value generated between both ends of this constant resistor enables discrimination of the paper sheet size.</p> |
