PURPOSE:To obtain a light receiving equipment which can convert a high speed serial signal into a low speed parallel signal. CONSTITUTION:Four PIN diodes 11, 12, 13, 14 are connected in series via optical fibers for delay 15, 16, 17. Light absorption layers of the PIN photodiodes 11, 12, 13, 14 are transparent to a serial signal when the applied voltage is low, because the photoluminescence wavelength lambdag is shorter than the wavelength lambdaof a light serial signal and in the vicinity of the wavelength lambda. When the applied voltage is increased, light absorption is generated by the Franz-Keldysh effect, and an optical serial signal is converted into an electric signal. Each of the optical path lengths of the optical fibers for delay 15, 16, 17 is equal to the distance where the light travels during the pulse interval T1 of the light serial signal. |
